BRIEF HISTORY
:
" SHETKARI SHIKSHAN MANDAL1 (SSM), SANGLI , has been established in the year
1983, which is sponsored and run by " VASANTDADA SHETKARI SAHAKARI SAKHAR
KARKHANA LTD." Sangli.
 Padmabhooshan Dr. Vasantraodada Patil, was a man of great vision and
foresight. He was the leader of common people and father of co-operative
movement and Agro Industrial Society of Maharashtra. He was honoured by number
of posts like Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Governor of Rajasthan, General
Secretary of All India Congress Party etc..
In 1983, Padmabhooshan Dr. Vasantraodada Patil, the former, Chief Minister of
Maharashtra, proclaimed new strategies and implemented them by permitting
educational societies to establish new Engineering and Polytechnic Colleges in
the State so as to facilitate higher Technical Education for Rural and Backward
areas.
Under his esteemed guidance, S.S.M. o pened
a new era by starting "PADMABHOOSHAN VASANTRAODADA PATIL INSTITUTE OF
TECHNOLOGY" (PVPIT), to impart education leading towards Engineering Degree
affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur, and Diploma Engineering of Board of
Technical Education, Maharashtra State.
